Starting in 2011, Steve was an instructor for “A Gathering of Masters Leather Carving Workshop", a 2 day class at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, NV that included Douglas Krause, Bob Park, Gaylerd Thissel, and Don Butler. The class proved popular so was offered again in 2012 and 2013 with Andy Stevens and Pedro Pedrini added to the list of Master Carvers teaching the class.

Steve has been invited to display his saddles at various gear shows that include the Gathering of Gear shows at the Western Folklife Center at Elko; the Trappings of Texas show in Alpine, TX and the Art of the Horse show at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody,WY.
In 1997, he displayed a saddle at "Saddle Up! A Renaissance in Leather" exhibit at the Western Folklife Center. While " Best of Show" 1st place went to Dale Harwood, and 2nd place went to Chuck Stormes, Steve felt it was still a compliment to be voted 3rd place behind these 2 artists.
In 1999, his saddle was voted "Best of Show" at the 13th annual" Trappings of Texas" show at the Museum of the Big Bend at Sul Ross University in Alpine, TX.
The Academy of Western Artists presented Steve with their " Saddlemaker of the Year" award in 2006.
